Ecuadorian Roses

Ecuadorian roses are considered the best in the world, mainly due to an advantage in rose buds or blooms size, vivid colors, longer vase life and longer stem length. Ecuador farms are the only ones in the world capable of producing roses with stems over 5 feet tall.

Ecuadorian roses get perpendicular natural light the whole year, due to the country’s location by the Equator. Most farms are at an altitude of between 2800 and 3000 meters above sea level, being this close to the sun the roses produce largest blooms and longer stems. Ecuadorian roses are so strong that will remain fresh for a longer time compared to roses from other countries.

There are currently 629 registered flower farms in Ecuador of which 471 cultivate roses, and there are 400 different varieties of roses being cultivated in Ecuador in a spectrum that includes bicolor, red, white, lavender, pink, yellow and orange, among other colors including the newly trends for Wedding Roses!

Flower production accounted for 10% of the country’s agricultural GDP in 2013, with roses comprising 74 percent of the floriculture sector. Most roses grown in Ecuador are for export, making flowers the nation’s fifth-most exported product and making Ecuador the third biggest roses exporter in the world, behind the Netherlands and Colombia.
